I put my car in Autotrader - how come all the calls I get are from bloody canvassers?

Who, of course, have hoards of people beating down their doors to buy your car and a 'small sum' of £100, your spouse and your house, they will send all these buyers over! Don't people who want to buy a car look in Autotrader anymore? Thanks Kooskie, but I don't look like this anymore! (I'm 35 - shhhhhh!)

normally the yellow paper ad mag or similar paper wanting fill the empty pages up last time i used them still getting phone calls 6-7 weeks later
Ive just had the same thing i found that if you ask them nicely to remove your number and tell them that you will take legal action as they are a nuisance caller they tend to stop the sad bit ids there are hundreds of the morons. I think that the add mags should as a standard wording add a note to every advert stating that canvassers will be prosecuted for nuisance calling
Yeah, i've just had the same problem. Apart from canvassers i had 1 TOTAL idiot come and view the car who offered me about 20% less than it was advertised at. So, where all the private buyers because it doesn't appear that Autotrader find them anymore.?
you might be asking too much for your car, but when you lower the price too much you get people phoning for the next two months.
Why do the canvassers call? Because they are getting business for their particular magazine/website/whatever, and the people they need are the people that are selling a car! Do private buyers use Autotrader? Yes, I believe they do (I did, the last time I bought a car - the website only, though, not the magazine). If you aren't getting any of them calling you, then that could be for various reasons, usually coming down to the fact that they don't like the sound or look of your car, or the price you are asking. I used one of these special buyer-finder things once - a complete waste of time! If you want to stop the canvassers, you can include "NO CANVASSERS" in your advert, but I am not sure that this actually works! Good luck!
