What do you think about the Government going all Ecological and buying Toyota Prius cars for Ministers?
There's only one slight problem: Ministers don't think that they are Posh enough, or Luxurious enough! SO, they all use a Private Firm that hires out Mercedes Limos, and Jaguar Limos! Don't these Horny-handed Sons of Toil soon adapt to the ways of the Aristocracy? Although the Hire Firm is Private, all the cost is paid by the taxpayer.

- They do that for city cars in NYC. However, Lexus also makes luxury hybrids. I don't see why Lexus's aren't posh.
- In America, I'm pretty sure the politicians ride around in Lincoln Town cars and Cadillacs.
- ...AND BUY 'FOREIGN' CARS!!!! That is so UN-AMERICAN! What is really sad is that GM, Ford and Chrysler dropped the ball on this issue, in search of the short-term dollar, instead of being like Toyota and Honda , who think more in the long term, big picture. Shame on Detroit.
- It's bullspit. My Jetta TDI is way more "ecological" It gets >60mpg. That kicks the pants off of any hybrid.
- Funny they had a problem getting the Prius to pass the emission inspections in Georgia, and when you consider the electricity also needed they are not that ecological.
- It’s the same the world over. In the old USSR they played at being all equal, but some were more equal than others and had their own shops, government cars, and holidays in Crimea, whilst the “unwashed” didn’t even have a bathtub to put their coal in. Incidentally the present (until the Elections) Italian Foreign Minister, born into and for years a righteous member of a Communist family and the PCI party, then turned PDS (Party of the Left aka Social Democrats) loves being photographed on “his” yacht, in “his” sports car, or “his” holiday villas. All in the name of the “brother workers” he purports to represent. And he is one of the more decent ones, hardly touched by scandals. It all boils down to “do what I say, not what I do” strategy. Buy British should not be an empty slogan, it means jobs for umpteen Brits, whatever the car make and there are lots of other ways to economize. .
- What was left of Aristocracy got taxed into the national trust. These Prius are expensive and there is no thought about the trade in value. When they're ready to be traded in, the batteries need replacing and that cost a mint. So, I think it'll cost more money in the long run., If they were buying carriages, horses and hay, yeah, I'd say, buy BRITISH!
