What kind of license do I need to buy and sell used cars?

My dad and I want to be able to buy used cars at auctions and sell them to the public(not on a car lot) we want to just maybe sell a few here and there. What kind of license do we need and how do we go about getting it?

1. There will be a state license required as well as registering yourselves as a business. There are usually fees ($500 a year) to have this license and there will be certain requirements that you need to meet ot maintain it. Look at the state government page for your state to find the info. The DMV may have it also...

3. You need a dealer license. Check with your states DMV for the exact requirements in your state.
4. well, you are going to have a hell of a time getting a dealer's license without a car lot.... but you will also need a wholesaler's license and potentially a sales license.
