- I personally don't own one, but my parents purchased one in 2000. They have over 110,000 miles on it and they haven't had any problems. The only major thing they have done was a brake job and new tires. And that isn't bad at all! It averages about 24 mpg, but they do mostly highway driving. In the city it gets more like 20. For what you get, you can't go wrong. It comes standard with many options, and the price is usually cheaper than competitors. I personally wouldn't buy it because it isn't comfortable for me. Both my parents are smaller (less than 6ft tall) and they fit nicely in the seats...I just don't fit! But other than the comfort level, it is a fine vehicle that you will get your money out of. I've looked at the new '07 ones and those are much more comfortable than the older model ones. But I drive an '06 GMC Yukon Denali XL, so you can see why I don't think they are the most comfortable vehicles. Ok, let's put it this way...if I were looking to purchase an inexpensive vehicle for one of my kids (if I had kids), I would not hesitate to look at a Hyundai. They are, from what I have seen, reliable, safe, get descent gas mileage, and it comes with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I just wouldn't buy it for myself.
- The latest ones are always ranked high and if you go to Yahoo Autos, you can click on customer reviews and it will show 4.5 stars out of 5. JD Power ranks them high as well. Your gas mileage depends on which engine you have, the small V6 or the big one. And whether or not you have the AWD option. Read some reviews in Yahoo Autos and a few will probably mention what they are getting. My wife had a Hyundai when we first met in 2000, it was 2 years old, but I would have thought it was 15 yrs old by the mechanics. It was a piece of crap, so I am still against Hyundai, no matter how good people say they are...but that is just me. I will give you what I consider a much better option, Scion XB, the new one. We are getting ready to purhase one. Much bigger inside than you would think and it is powerful enough and loaded with almost every option, including Navigation is right at 20k with automatic. Also Scion is a one price dealer, so no getting ripped off on the price. The only drawback is this XB does not offer leather or AWD, but I think we can live without those for such a great value. It does include side airbags and traction control standard. Remember, Scion is built by Toyota. Hope this helps.
- I've got a 2003 that just rolled up 50k and still runs like new, I hope I never find out how many miles are too many. It gets around 15-18 mpg but the AC is always on and I drive mostly city. It's a V6. The one thing you might want to do is drive it. The console is low which a lot of people don't like and the seats even though they have a lumbar and leg adjustment give my wife a back ache on long drives. The thing that really blows me away though is how quiet the thing is for a big suv. There's a ton of room and clever storage area in the back. I doubt you'd be "unhappy" with one! BT
- I would think the Santa Fe would be a great car. I just bought an Accent and it's great. The Santa Fe is a higher priced Hyundai. All Hyundai's come with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I am a satisfied Hyundai owner.
- I just traded in a 2003 GMC Yukon for a Santa Fe, and I love it. It gets much better gas mileage (around 20mpg), is quick (v6), and fun to drive. I would recommend one.
- I recently purchased a 2007 Santa Fe GLS. The only regret I have is not springing for the limited. It's an awesome car. Not only is it designed well but in 3 months I have already put 10,000 miles on it. driven cross country and have nothing to complain about. I traded in my 03 Jeep Liberty for it. I get better gas mileage. On the highway I am getting 23 miles per gallon. I know others who have later model santa fe's and have over 100,000 miles on them and would never get rid of them. If you have a budget and want a reliable safe car with extras. Santa Fe is it. Good Luck.
- The Santa Fe comes in several models. There is the 2.7 liter v6 and the 3.3 liter V6. The 3.3 averages 19 city and 24 the 2.7 is 20 and 26. If you get one in all wheel drive the mileage drops by one. over all they are great cars. Check out all of the awards. The Hyundai Veracruz and Azera are being compared to luxary lines now, like Lexus and BMW. With the warranty and the overall customers satisfaction there is no reason to consider other brands.
