Are Hyundai cars any good?
Public Comments
- It depends alot on the year. If it's a 90's Hyundai, it's probably a rebadged Mitzubishi, which is not good. If it's a 99+, most of them were actually built and designed by Hyundai, in which case they can be pretty decent if properly maintained.
- They are descent, still not too good yet, about the quality of a domestic American car and still not quite the quality of Japanese. I would go with a new B class Japanese car like a Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, or Toyota Yaris because they are around the same price as Hyundais. Hyundais only have the good warranty b/c they wouldn't sell nearly as good if they didn't. The Japanese will sound better and get better gas mileage. If you just want a descent car for a few years and really like a Hyundai, then I would get it, otherwise not.
- No.
- I had a 1999 Elantra I loved that car it handled nicer than my 1995 Nissan Altima. The only problem I had with the Hyundai was that the power window regulators kept breaking (I heard that problem has been addressed). I wish they made a full size truck I'd probably buy it
- They're much better than they used to be. I had an 01 Elantra and I just got rid of it last year (06) for a new Sonata. I had 84000 miles on it and it ran pretty well. My only issue with the car was that the damn engine light would come on even when there was nothing wrong with the car which equaled unnecessary dealer visits. I had all scheduled visits done and she ran like a champ. Only the interior showed its age. (Trim pieces becoming loose, interior fabrics faded, and the carpet was horrible) but mechanically it ran well. So yes Hyundais are okay especially with that warranty
- Yes, yes, and yes. The biggest critics of Hyundai are the salespeople at competing dealerships. But if you ask for facts to back up their criticism they'll give you nothing with substance. Those critics are successful in keeping the resale value of Hyundai lower because they are the majority buyers at dealer auctions. Auction sales are what sets the values for the books, ie; Kelly Blue, NADA, Black, Edmonds, etc.
- Yes. I actually own one and it's been the most dependable car I've owned. Most of the time people who bash Hyundai never drove one.
- One word: OUTSTANDING Rated #3 in the world for innitial quality -- behind Porsche and Lexus You simply cannot get more car for the money or a better warranty Don't think they build an excellent product? -- check out the 2007 Santa Fe, Vera Cruz, Sonata, or Azera
- I have a Hyundai car and a so called American made car... while all cars have some type of problems, would you like to guess which car has the most problems? I like both of the cars and would buy both again if to re buy, but the Hyundai has a lot less problems.
- The 2007 Hyundai's are ranked as some of the best in the world. When you see advertisements comparing Hyundai's to Lexus and BMW, they aren't kidding. I have a 2006 Santa Fe, and i love it. The quality, ride and handling are exceptional, even the paint seems to be superior. I took it in for an oil change and almost had to trade it for a Veracruz !! What a beautiful vehicle. People are right, when Hyundai first hit the American market, they were pretty junkie. They had a lot of transmission problems. But they have invested billions in factories, and quality control over the years, and I believe they are one of the best vehicles out there. Better than Honda, and the American manufacturers. Go test drive some and decide for yourself. Don't forget to consider the price tag.
- ummm this is to the host and Farret(first guy who left the comment) i don't think he knows about the brands' quality. i mean if he dosen't read megazines or news, he's just a noob. Hyundai ranked #3 highest quality in the world. That means they 've beaten BEnz, Toyota, and other makers. only behind by #1 Porsche, and #2 Lexus. and yeah 07 Hyundai cars are more reliable than japanese car(except for Lexus even though it's from Toyota). And like the last guy said, whey they were comparing to the BMw, Toyota, Benz etc, they're not joking around. some people thinks that Hyundai is aiming to high to compete with the others, but that's the way it is. so yeah If you're considering to buy the old one, well it's pretty bad choice. and they have 10 yrs warrenty + #3 highest rank. good luck~
- no, they are not. they are prone to many engine and transmission problems. once you start repairing it you never stop until you push it to the junkyard
- no they are cheap and only last a short time with low resale value - buy a good car
- There's proof they are very good I drove a 2000 Hyundai accent 3 door hatch and drives very well and it's great value for money
- They are better than their cousin Kia cars but I would go for something else.
- you get what you pay for!
- Not for America or Korean People. Built in sweatshops by women and children. But hey, who cares as long as we can buy cheap cars, right?
- They are Excellent Cars I read once that JD POWER AND ASSOCIATES Ranked Hyundai from the Best non-premium Car brands and if you read the ranking 3 years ago you Will find that the Hyundai Quality has improved Dramatically and as for Quality I think they are about the same status as The Japanese, The only thing that makes people unattracted to Hyundais is the Reputation as Hyundai had a terrible reputation after the Excel but as to Quality it is great with a perfect Warranty.
