- Mazda builds its own cars but is 1/4 owned by Ford. The CX-7 and CX-9 have gotten rave reviews and sure look great. It is built on the same platform as the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX which have also gotten high marks.
- The CX-9 is built in Japan by Mazda. They are made very, very good! They won the SUV of the year by Motor Trend for 2008.
- I am in agreement with the previous answers. Yes, Mazda cars are made good. The Mazda CX9 is a class act and best in it's category. Mazda's portfolio of cars and trucks are showing the buying public it's "A game." It is good as a soft roader, not the main Jeep line that is built as an off road vehicle. It is built good as a luxury cruiser that has the capacity for family. In this role, it is understood that it is not a mule, a vehicle built for abuse, like a pick up truck. A Mazda CX9 should last a lifetime, if properly taken car of, it is shaping up to be a 20 year vehicle. It is that good.
- Mazda cars are made by Mazda, which is affiliate of Ford. Contrary to popular belief that Ford owns Mazda, Ford owns 33.9% of shares and is the largest single shareowner but doesn't have decisive majority as, for example, in Volvo. Ford currently uses Mazda MZR engines in most of cars (of up to 2.5 liter) and chassis jointly developed by Ford, Mazda and Volvo. However, each company tunes and comforms the common platform to suit their respective needs. CX-9 is made in Japan, as most of Mazdas, which assures high build quality. Another Mazda, the Mazda3, also made in Japan, was officially declared to be the most reliable car in Europe ever by German (sic!) audit body TUV. (The audit was measuring number of serious flaws and defects). Mazda has 6 cars in the top 20 which is more than any other manufacturer. I have a Mazda3, before that a Mazda 626, brother drives a Protege, father replaced his Mazda6 with a Mazdaspeed6. Combined mileage on our cars is more than half a million and we have never experienced troubles. Also, wear and tear of mechanical end electronics part is minimal. You can't go wrong with a Mazda.
- the CX-9 and the CX-7 are awesome vehicles to own/drive
- Mazda makes their own car in Japan, but is a quarter owned by ford! They're great cars and are reliable, not like fords cars which are crap!
