- I would only get it if you gonna use it off road. It is old so the miles dont really matter. But dont let that put you off too much, I have a old honda car and as long as you maintain them they really do last...however, as with any ageing vehicle old things tend to fall apart or fall off..:-). Check fork seals not leaking, chain in OK condition etc. £203 sounds like an OK price, however make sure it has been taxed and MOT'd at least within the last couple years... if it hasnt been T & M'd for longer than that then leave well alone.. That would be my main worry. Also remember theres plenty of cheap bikes out there which have tax and MOT...dont rush into it. Also parts maybe expensive and hard to come by because of its age
- Depends if you want to ride it on or for just off road use only. BUT either way ride it first and see if it goes and handles OK. A spin on it should tell you if the engine, suspension and brakes are all working normally with no noises and to find out for yourself if all the gears work ok. It's1983... wow 25 years old? Parts may be hard to get! For road use ask and SEE if electrics, lights etc still work? It could all be trouble, especially if you not mechanical / mechanic and i suspect you are not as you not be asking this!
- Honda MTX's were actually build in Italy alongside the NS125R and NSR125R bikes. As a result they were never quite up to Honda's legendary Japanese build quality. 1600 miles is indeed very low for a bike that age, however it has been used off road which only means one thing...THRASHED TO DEATH! AVOID AVOID AVOID! Its SO easy to remove a speedo cable to stop the miles from being clocked up. This bike has probably done a good few years road use before being condemned to the field so if I were you I wouldn't touch it. MTX engines (same as the NS125 engine) were not all that reliable from new so now its probably fooked completely. You will need to spend a lot more than £203 to get a halfway decent used 125 that will be roadworthy. Save your money and look for something else.
- £203 isn't a great deal of cash however you slice it....so as long as it's in reasonable condition it has to be a fair price.
