  1. A hybrid version of the Mazda Tribute is supposed to be coming. Basically it's the same as the Ford Escape Hybrid / Mercury Mariner Hybrid. I like the hybrid drive in the Escape Hybrid line. It uses a planetary-gear Power Split Device drive similar to the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive. Because of its simplicity, PSD drives are very durable and low-maintenance. The Tribute Hybrid should be using this system too so I hear.
  2. Mazda also has some limited amounts of RX-8's where the rotary engine is set up to burn hydrogen, and these apparently work quite well as the wankel rotary engine design is well suited for this. They are still in testing in a few country's but there are expectations of putting them into production perhaps as early as 2010 or 2011 from what I have read.
  3. The only Hybrid on the market in the USA right now is the Mazda Tribute. They have released it in California as a test market. Depending on how it does there will determine if it will be sold nationally.
  4. Mazda currently does not have a hybrid car. Mazda does have a hybrid SUV, though - the 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid. Unfortunately, there's only an estimated production run of 350 vehicles, and only to be sold in select areas of California... http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=modelsMainTRBHybrid&vehicleCode=TRB http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/24094.shtml http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/24127.shtml There were also a few of the Mazda Tribute Hybrids available for 2006: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/22553.shtml for better availability, I'd suggest looking into the sister vehicles, the Ford Escape Hybrid and the Mercury Mariner Hybrid. The only hybrid listed in Mazda USA's concept cars list is the Senku, but like most concept vehicles whether or not it ever makes it to production is anyone's guess. http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=upcomingMain
