Which GPS systems can be used on a motorbike?
I have a honda CBF 600 and am always getting lost. I would like a GPS system with an earpiece preferably. I don't really want to pay more than about £150 and hopefully less than that. Is that realistic?

- The iPhone GPS system, get one for free at www(.)itreallyisfree(.)com Remove Brackets
- You would likely want to use a handheld unit with a mount on your motorbike since handhelds are more durable, but the problem is that they don't have an audio-out jack. You won't be able to hear the beeps from the tiny speaker either. There are some automotive units that have audio-out, but they are at the more expensive end of the spectrum. Garmin makes their zumo model for motorcycles, but those are quite expensive relative to their automotive relatives.
- You are in UK, if you live in U.S.A, consider a Magellan CrossOverGPS unit that is motorcycle friendly for about $199. Most motorcycle unit should be IPX4 to IPX7 water resistant or water proof rated so when the unit get wet during a down pour, your GPS unit will not die on you. Not sure if they have Magellan CrossOverGPS or even a MRM 2000 or MRM 2200T in UK, but if they do, it maybe a cheap solution. Good Luck
- Hi there Manicbrit, You are not alone, in your search for a GPS the 'motorbike friendly', but fear not, the manufacturers have listened to the demand and now there a quite a few GPS systems that and specially designed for motorbikes. As mentioned by another answerer Garmin have the 'Zumo' range of devices but there is also the 'Riders' range from TomTom. The TomTom products feature a Cardo Scala wireless headset so you can hear the voice commands, RAM mounting hardware which fits most bikes and it is designed to be glove friendly too. However, prices do start around £250, which is a little more than you were looking to spend and this is the same for the Garmin range too. Hope this helps you out, try not to get too lost!
