- 1999 protege is a very good car. A friend of mine drove his to about 93 protege to 230,000 miles traded his in and now his 99 has about 150,000. It all depends on the previous owner and your upkeep of the car.
- i have a glc 84 hatchback, it has erased the tach 2 times and still running good mantenience is the key
- Almost anything is good if it was taken care of. All modern American, Japanese, and European vehicles are designed to last 10 years and 150k miles. If you take good care of it they will last longer. If not it wont. A 99 would be 10 years old so its probably nearing the end of its life or at least will start to need more repairs. My 91 lasted 115k miles before a drunk hit it. Still ran great though. The only thing I ever replaced was belts, hoses, front brakes, and tires. It still had the original rear brakes and even clutch.
