How do you remove salt water from the petrol tank and gearbox of a BMW motorbike?

- probably safest to disassemble and rebuild the gear box. The gas tank you could remove from the bike and let it air dry for several days. Perhaps you could suspend a dessicant in the tank through the gas cap to help. Then when you think it's dry, rinse it with petrol real good, drain it and reinstall it.
- lol
- drain and clean...then add.
- I hear that if you'd kept on digging you make have come across some WD40 and water desalination tablets. Must look harder next time...
- Getting the salt water out is only the first bit, how are you going to get it registered for use on roads
- use some of the diesel oil that washed up with it! HA
- psml !!! Watch out tho your on tv !!!!
- Funny. :D
- Well done!!! My daughter had a Laguna car which got a wave inside because she couldn't shut the door quick enough. Insurance scrapped it, so I suggest you start taking it apart nut by nut, till it drives you nuts!!!!
- nice 1 : )
- You've got them from the shipreck havn't you? Ha ha ha.
- Bugger the bike anyone out there able to weld my ship and pump my hold ? oh and pull me off the beach !!!!!!!!!
- lost one BMW submersible motorcycle
- dont bother, break it up and sell on ebay.
- Keep an eye out for a container with detergent in it. If there's too many bikes, keep me one!!
- Got in on that container ship booty, huh?
- add approx 10,000 gallons of oil!
- Whos been knocking around on the Devonshire coast then? Good on ya mate. You've gotta be looking at a full strip down of the whole bike. Salt water is an absolute curse in engines, bearings etc. Strip it down to components and flush everything thoroughly with diesel or kerosene or suchlike.
